Unfortunately, Melton were too strong for the North boys on Saturday at Macphersons Park in Melton. The Bloods seemed more desperate than our boys on the day to gain a competitive advantage and it was a hard day at the office for all of us, coming away 14 points down.
It was a low scoring game in difficult conditions and we struggled to move the ball past the centre square and into our forward line. Melton managed twenty more entries into their forward fifty, which had our defensive line working hard to beat the Bloods coming through to score. Luckily they were inaccurate with some of their scoring or the scoreline would have been of a greater deficit.
Ollie Nash and Ryan Hobbs both stood up for us in that defensive end and worked hard all game to stop the Bloods penetration.
It makes our journey to the finals difficult now, though third on the ladder, we can easily slip out of the top six with positions 3 to 6 all on 28 premiership points and only percentage keeping us up above the other teams. We now have the very strong East Point and Bacchus Marsh to contend with over the next two weeks.
